Alex: Even if it's raining

Bike-Only Days: 11-20 days
Mileage Goal: Over 250 miles

I cringe whenever I see the latest climate predictions. Reducing my carbon footprint helps just a tiny bit, and keeps me optimistic.

350 Vermont is doing great work to reduce fossil fuel carbon pollution. In 2050, when Vermont's climate resembles North Carolina's now, I want to be able to tell my grandkids that I was fighting for solutions, and because of that at least Vermont's climate isn't like Florida's.

Climate change is an important issue to me because of my kids.  I live for the chance to get out and experience the mountains. My kids deserve the chance to experience an untouched wilderness during their entire lifetime-- one where the weather represents nature, not artificially-warmed weather of our own creation.  I belief the human race has a moral responsibility to maintain a livable planet, and at present we are letting short term economic concerns overrule those long term obligations.

July 30, 2014 - Met my goal

Hi All-

I met my fundraising goal last night-- so touched by your solidarity!   Biked home after giving blood on Monday in a hard rain and driving wind, thinking of the greater cause!

July 24, 2014 - Chilly today

64 degrees when I got home at 6pm tonight-- almost needed long sleeves for the ride..  Gorgeous, september type weather.  Passed dozens of people on the bike path-- prime cycling weather.

July 21, 2014 - PEI Trip

During the 1st two weeks of July, my wife, kids and I spent 8 days biking a 150 mile loop around Prince Edward Island. The last two weeks I've been riding my bike to work daily.  I travel 3 miles on the Burlington Bike Path and 1.8 miles climbing 200 feet from the Lake to UVM.
